Dear brethren, we of the New Prophecy Movement are not just in the business of promoting the wonderful gift of speaking tongues, but establishing home groups free from ritualised worship.
We are of the opinion that "Home Church" will in the future be the catacombs of refuge when persecution comes upon the church. How so?
Christian homes will nurture the gifts of the spirit as compared with today's institutionalised Church were it's become redundant.
For example, Harris who began preaching when he was 12 is a fourth-generation member of the Assemblies of God. His great-grandfather was a church pioneer who founded a Pentecostal camp meeting in Southern Illinois. Harris has pastured First Assembly for two years, and he said audible tongues was heard just “once every two or three months” at the church. Harris goes on to say, “We do stress that the initial physical evidence of the Holy Spirit is speaking in tongues.....but we do not encourage people to seek tongues. We encourage them to seek God and to seek the power of the Holy Spirit for witnessing. Tongues is just a by-product of that.”
But what Pastor Harris is forgetting is that the power for effective witnessing comes from the speaking in tongues! In Acts 1:8 Paul says: "You will receive power know that the Holy Spirit has come upon you"
Brethren question is, do you go along the same thinking as Harris? This mind-set seems to be the norm which only goes to show that tongues have not been prioritised in today's modern Church.
Sadly those of my generation (1970's) who once enjoyed the benefits of tongues in joyful service to God are know existing in the formalities of church culture . Can this be you? (Ref. Home Church on home page).
We of the New Prophecy Movement believe that tongues and its accompanying gifts of prophecy, interpretation and discernment is ones bridal veil in preparation for the Bridegroom. John 3:29.
The bottom line is this: Pentecostalism has succumbed to Satan’s lie -that the speaking in tongues is a little old hat for the modern church. But the truth is according to the Bible, tongues is not only a necessity in everyday living but also paramount in the functioning of Christ's church in preparation for these our very last days.
Question is, will you as a temple of God be without spot or blemish? Ephesians 5:27.
